Newsgroup Instructions for Outlook Express

A. Adding a Newsgroup for Gamestorm

1.On the Taskbar at the top, click on tools and goto accounts

2. click on the news Tab, You will see a listing of Newsgroup servers you have added if any.

3. click the "Add" button on the right side, and select News

4. The first thing you have to put in is how your name will appear to everyone else in the "from" part of the message. do that and click next.

5. Then enter your email address.  click next.
    a. On these servers, you need not worry about spam, so there is no real need for a spam blocker, or not using your true email address.

6.  Now put in the name of the server.
    a. For Gamestorm you will use www.gamestorm.com, and check the "My server requires me to log on" box and click Next.

7. You must fill in the prompts for username and password,
        a.  Your username and password for Gamestorm is the same as your login ID and Password
        b. DO NOT check "logon using Secure password authentication"

8.  Choose a name for this account.  This can be anything you choose, it does not matter.

9.  Put a check mark in establish connection maually, unless you use a lan or network to access the internet, then check that.

10. Click Finish. and then click close.

11. you will then be prompted to download a list of newsgroups available from that server.  You can subscribe to the Newsgroups you like, by double clicking on the name, or by selecting the name and clicking the subscribe button.  Keep in mind that the AW3 Newsgroups are labeled AW2.

B. Adding The Public Newsgroups for Scenarios, and Squads

1.On the Taskbar at the top, click on tools and goto accounts

3. click the "Add" button on the right side, and select News

    a. For the server name you will use hq.cutthroats.com, and do not check the "My server requires me to log on" box and click next.

C. Adding The Private Newsgroups for Scenarios, and Squads

3. click the "Add" button on the right side, and select News

11. you will then be prompted to download a list of newsgroups available from that server.  You can subscribe to the Newsgroups you like, by double clicking on the name, or by selecting the name and clicking the subscribe button.  Keep in mind that you  will only be able to subscribe to newsgroups for which you have a valid ID and password.  You also need to repeat this process for every private newsgroup that has a different logon and password.

You can change any of these settings, by going to tools on the top taskbar, and then accounts.  select the server entry you wish to change, and goto properties.  From  there you can change everything, from servername, to password and ID, and more.

If for some reason you find that you cannot connect, try a little later, as sometimes servers are busy, and cannot respond.

If you cannot see any new messages, goto views, current view, and make certain that "All Messages" is checked.
